Candy Pastels SS12

12 Apr

Pastel shades are big this season –   Here’s my pick of the best Catwalk inspiration.

Preen

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lovely colours & the mix of textures.  Shiny, Plastic-y fabrics are another big trend this season.

I’m not really a lacey collar type of gal – but I do really like the crop jumper/midi skirt combo.  Gotta love a bit of cheeky mid-drift.

lol, one of my fave books as a kiddie – definitely similar non?

3.1.3 Philip Lim

The colours in this collection are deffo my fave for inspiration – lilac, mint and peach work really well

Jonathan Saunders

Full shirts and pastels on muted greys.

Versus

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Designed by the duo Donatella Versace and Christopher Kane, the feel for this collection was basketball players and cheerleaders in vibrant pastel shades.  Love how the foul lines on the runway are painted in the collection’s ice-cream palette.

Love the sporty top shape + high neckline.  I’ve been seeing that shape pop up a lot in the highstreet.

Hope yas enjoyed that chicks – should be doing another post fairly soon!

Hiii.  Willing myself to bring Belfash out of hibernation here. I hate winter.

But Winter is coming to an end, as we can see in this v. tropical looking pic of Belfast I took last week. (except for random outbursts of snow in London etc.) Spring/Summer fashion 2012 is here so that’s all that matters.

EMA special

8 Nov

Crikeyyyy.  That was some break.  Fear not chums I’ve risen from the dead.

So as everyone who’s anyone knows, the MTV EMA’s were shot here in our very own lil hometown Belfast on Sunday.

Here are the outfits I loved & loathed:

LADY GAGA

As per, Gaga showed everyone up with her mental space age outfits created by Paco Rabane.  Not just as controversial as last years Meat Dress,  but deffo top effort!

Above is Gaga in her first dress which she wore to pick up her Best Female award.  Admittedly I did wonder if her Philip Treacy hat picked up more channels than my freeview box: But, she’s Lady Gaga, she can wear a dress made of meat and still look not half bad.

This outfit was worn during Lady G’s performance of ‘Marry The Night’.  I liked this outfit, especially when she stripped off and flashed her bum!

Cheeky! Cracking bum though.

Giving Hayden Panettiere a wee squeeze in a silver sparkly number.

Another outfit change as Gaga poses backstage with her many awards.  Shiny disco balls.  Love the pointed shoulder and her massive layered ponytail thing she has goin’ on.

JESSIE J

This is a v. brave outfit girlfriend.  It doesn’t matter how much glitter/chains/leopard print sequins you throw on that catsuit – all I can think is ‘camel toe’.

Not entirely sure how I feel about this dress, there’s a hell of a lot of mental print going on.

Attention grabbing leopard print.  Me likey though! Shows off her slammin’ bod without a hint of frontal wedgie!  Also liking the curly, side parting hair, v. glam.

KATY PERRY

I was surprised at Ms Perry’s lack of outfit changes, seeing as she changed a whopping 1o times when she hosted the EMA’s in 2008.

A very ‘quirky’ outfit this year, naturally as Katy P is Queen of the Quirk.  Not really keen on the sunglasses print on her dress, but the Cadillac pink outfit +bubblegum pink hair (love) and matching lips is bang on.

With Jeremy Scott – matching quiffs cuteeee.  Horrendous outfit choice though Jezza..

SELENA GOMEZ

The host at this years EMA’s made 9 outfit changes! (great effort!)

Awwwk don’t ya just wanna pinch her wee cheeks in this Marchesa lace number.

I think Selena’s ‘alter ego’ is pretty smokin, just a bit cringey when she starts rapping though eek.

Paying homage to LMFAO

BAR REFAELI & IRINA SHAYK

One word: LEGS!?!  Lookin’ fineee in their denim Replay dresses.  Love the dip-dye train on Bar Refaeli’s dress.

LMFAO

yayayay zebra print bum bag! Totally ridiculous onsie but loads of fun.  I wanna be their mate.

HAYDEN PANETTIERE & NAKED GUY

This was bizarre!  It was apparently a totally random act of streaking and not a publicity stunt.  Whatevz MTV.  Felt a bit bad for Hayden cause she looked all cute but Mr. Naked Guy stole her thunder. Awk.

That’s all for my wee EMA special chicks – but before you go please watch this.  I laughed my panties off loads:

HOLLER!

Dominatrix/Gothic/Fetish trend AW11

19 Sep

This year’s Autumn/ Winter catwalk was taken over by gothic-y bondage inspired collections:

LOUIS VUITTON

French maids, men in uniform, women in uniform, S&M, blind folds, golden handcuffs and lots of stockings.

Love the peter pan collar, loose tailoring around the shoulders and arms but nipped in at the waist.  Strappy corset shoes are gorgey.

Have you ever seen handcuffs look this good?

All those gorgeous textures! Fluffy/plastic/sexy stockings.  Liking the way that the shoes match the colour and texture of the front panel of the jacket.

Love the contrasting leather collar + the black lace panels against the sheer white.

Equestrian glam.  Aside from the fact that half of the models were wearing horse-riding style hats, the equestrian/fetish inspiration continued with a few of them carrying whips – cheeky! You can just see a bit of the whip the model above is carrying in her right hand.  I also think inspiration was derived from Nazi uniforms:

Similar hat as well as the billowing trouser shape.

Sexy Kate Moss makes her comeback – strutting down the catwalk for the first time in 3 years while smoking a fag – on World No Smoking Day.

ALEXANDER McQUEEN

With Sarah Burton designing Kate Middleton’s dress for the Royal Wedding earlier this year,  the Alexander McQueen A/W 11 collection was partly showcasing some of the most amazing, out-there bridal wear:

However; for the most part of the collection it was black, black and more black – leather straps and zips and studs and corsets and choker-collars.  It actually reminded me a lot of the movie Black Swan with the complete turn around from the previous design to this, v. interesting.

The corset platform shoes are v. similar to Louis Vuitton’s. So many complimenting textures and materials.   The leather/metal straps and choker remind me again of an S&M/equestrian theme:

similar, right?

Studs ‘n’ string

knicker-high leg corsets. kinky! I think the bra-like leather panels might actually be horse-blinkers:

I lovelovelove this outfit.  The short version of the corset bootie is super cute – I hope the highstreet brings out a version :D .  Love the knee-length pedal pushers and the curve accentuating shape of the dress.  That fur hood as well! Those gloves! Sigh..:)

GILES

Is anyone else reminded of a ‘sexy nun’ costume?

Peeka-boo stripes.

MULGER

With a smoking, latex-clad Lady Gaga storming down the catwalk in a modelling debut, this isn’t a collection anyone’s going to forget fast.

How she walks in those shoes, I have no idea.  Very cool though, I love the way her hair has been styled.

Latex + androgyny

I loved that the models were allowed to be playful in the show

Amazing sheer, printed bodysuit! Love the strap-on-fur-sleeves too.

How nuts is this model? Those are real tattoos people!

EMANUEL UNGARO

“there is that idea of the city of love [Paris], but really it is the city of lust. I wanted that kind of sexual provocativeness in the clothing. Mr Ungaro always said he dressed the mistresses, not the wives. I decided to do the same this season.” – Giles Deacon (designing for Ungaro).

Biker chic.  I love the pattern on this dress – I think it’s been done with leather cords; twisted and looped – beautiful.

Shiny and sheer. I love the buckled leather collars that feature in this collection.  Not too keen on the choice of shoe with this outfit though :/ coral satin seems a bit out of place.

Lace, leather and zips.  Really like the super high ponytails in this show too.

That’s it for today’s post darlin’s – hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed writing it :D .  My high street finds on this trend will be coming up soon so keep an eye out – or subscribe to the blog so you get an email as soon as the next post comes out :) !

‘WINGES’ and Hair Feathers

7 Sep

Winter is coming and maybe you want to try a new hair do, a fringe perhaps? But what if you don’t like it? All that annoying regrowth!?

Fear not ladies I have found you a solution.

WINGES (fringe wigs)

I first heard about this trend a while back when Leigh Lezark tried them out:

Before.

After.

Here are the ‘Winges’ I have found for you :) :

Hershesons

This company also make fake ponytails, hair bows, braids etc (check out their website http://www.hershesons.com/homepage).  Their ‘winges’ come in two styles;

1.Sharp

2. Rock Chick

At £30 each its about the same price as getting your hair cut and blow-dried, worth it I think for a no-worry change of hair style.  Both winge styles come in an array of colours, aswell as some fun colours – available at Hershesons at ASOS.com:

This red one and the mauve one are £14!

Bitching and Junkfood

Have also jumped on this trend with their Two Weeks textile fringe, £50:

and Two Weeks Chinchilla fringe, £70:

Hair feathers

Another fun trend which I spotted on some girlies at Creamfields a few weeks ago, were feather hair extensions.  They have been out in america for quite some time – here’s Miley Cyrus sporting them:

Now they’re out in the UK – check out http://www.hairfeathers.co.uk/

A pack of hair feathers ranges from £14.99 – £19.99 and they come in lots of different colours.

Hope you enjoyed this little hair – special.  Any questions, suggestions etc feel free to email me or post on the facebook page! :)
